It is clear that pile-up phenomena of groove sides produced by means of abrasive grains have some effects on the roughness of ground surface. In this paper, for the purpose of making clear the effect of pile-up in the case of two grooves' interference on the surface roughness, the ratio of an actual generated asperity height to a geometrical asperity one, n_i is measured experimentally and then the effect of the change of cutting edges pitch is estimated statistically. The ratio of the standard deviation in the distribution of the actual generated asperity heights to geometrical asperity values has a range between 2.82 and 3.64 for the same depth of cut. The value of n_i increases with an increase in the apical angle of edge, in the ratio of cutting depth of the first passing edge to he second passing edge, and with a decrease in the hardness of workpieces.
