In this paper, an elastohydrodynamic squeeze problem between two rotating cylinders lubricated by a Bingham solid is analyzed under the conditions of both flooded and starved lubrication to clarify how the yield stress of a Bingham solid affects the properties of film thickness and load capacity. The lubrication equation for a Bingham solid and the elasticity equation are solved simultaneously by the Newton-Raphson method. It is shown that a Bingham solid has a greater load capacity than a Newtonian fluid and its effect is remarkable with a decrease of rolling velocity and an increase of approaching velocity. In the starved lubrication, the effect of inlet coordinate on the load capacity is less in a Bingham solid than in a Newtonian fluid.
