The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relation between the behavior of departing drops and the heat transfer coefficient on a horizontal tube. Local heat transfer coefficients on the tube, which had relative values to the coefficient on the vertical surface, were analytically obtained by introducing an essential model for the cycle of drop dearture. Furthermore, heat transfer coefficients on the copper test tube were obtained experimentally, and experimental results were found to be in good agreement with calculated ones. The effects of the behavior or departing drops on the heat transfer coefficient were clarified.
