Survival of Swiss 'A' albino mice was studied upto 30 days after 760R and 1060R whole body gamma irradiation with MPG and/or AET treatment. Though only a few animals died with 760R, an indication was noted that MPG treatment may not be of help in increasing survival. Exposure to 1060R caused high mortality in the control untreated animals, and it was clearly revealed that MPG treatment either alone or in combination with AET did not increase survival of mice under the experimental situation. AET at a dose of 200 mg/kg body weight which is half the recommended dose for radioprotection, rendered excellent protection of the animals after otherwise lethal dose of 1060R radiation.
