A new heat treatment system has been designed for the purpose of controlling the oxygen contents of oxide materials such as high T_e superconductors. This sys tem succeeded in producing high quality and reproduci ble oxide materials. This can be attributed to the pre cise control of the oxygen content of the atmosphere, using four mass flow controllers, two zirconia electro lyte oxygen sensors and the oxygen pump which is also composed of a zirconia eletrolyie cell. Also, a quench system has been designed which enables samples to be quenched rapidly while maintaining the oxygen partial pressure in an electric furnace. Additional features in clude : alumina sample holder, which can be moved mag netically enabling a thermocouple to be positioned near the sample in order to sense the sample tempera ture precisely, and a precise control over the sample tempereture by means of a profiling control method. As a result, the sample temperature can be controned to within 0.1℃. In addition, electron doped (Nd_<1-x> Ce_x)_2 Cu0_<4-δ> superconducting materials of high quality could be reproducibly obtained, and some properties of this material were clarified.
