We performed a retrospective clinical analysis of 39 children with VUR treated with antireflux surgery. The most frequent initial manifestation of VUR was recurrent urinary tract infection (77%) which developed mostly at ages less than 2 years. After antireflux surgery, the release of back pressure was observed in all cases. However, of 41 scarred kidneys, only 3 (7.3%) showed improvement. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a diagnostic method and a therapeutic regimen for urinary tract infection to prevent its recurrence.
