The problem of peristaltic transport of a non-Newtonian (Carreau) fluid in a non-tzniforrnchannel has been investigated trnder zero Reynolds nunaber xvitla long wavelength approxitnation.The problem is forrnvrlated v.rsing a pertvxrbation expansion in ternas of a variant of XVeissenbergnurnber. It is asstrrtaed that chyme in tlae taaale 81112111 intestine behave like Carreau fltnid since nuostof the playsiological fltrid behave like a non-Nexvtonian fltrid. Presstrre rise and f'riction force, inthe case of non-uniform geometry, are f'otrnd rntrch snaaller than the corresponding values in thecase of trnifortn geormetry. Ftrrthernaore, tlae presstmre rise and the friction force are smaller in thecase of Carreau fltrid than Newtonian fltrid. A comparison between Carreau fluid, cotrple-stressfluid and Casson fltrid is given. The presstrre rise and friction force are discussed for variotrs ofthe physical pararneters of interest.
