Based on the universality concept, we study the S : 3/2 and S : 2 bond-alternating spinchains numerically. In previous papers, the phase diagram of the S = l XXZ spin chain withbond alternation was shown to reflect the hidden Z2 x Z) symmetry. For the higher S Heisenbergspin chain, the successive dirnerization transition occurs, and for anisotropic spin chains the phasestructture will be more colorful than the S :: l case. Using recently developed techniqtues, weshow directly that the phase strtrcture of the anisotropic spin chains relates to the Z2 x Z2symmetry.
