Based on a phenornenological model and taking into account the mutual inductance, we studythe external magnetic flux dependence of persistent currents in a system of two electricallyisolated ?nesoscopic rings. The possibility of a grotnnd state with spontaneous magnetic fluxtrapped in the system is addressed. The analogy of the flux state in normal-metal rings andtheir superconducting counterparts is also discussed.
