Young's moduli along [100], [010], [0013, [011], [1013, [110] by composite-barresonator method and sound velocities of longitudinal and transverse waves along[100], [010], [001] by pulse echo method are measured in the ferroelectric crystal of(NH.).BeF. over a range from - 150'C to l50'C. All the elastic constants are ob-tained by a least square method. A method to obtain the elastic compliance constants.5., .5., and .5.. from six measurements (.s'.., ,5.., ,s'., c.., c.., c..) is also proposed.Anomalies in constants except c, are explained by a phenomenological theory in-cluding higher order terms. The anomaly in c, is, however, shown due to the coupl-ing of a normal coordinate Q(B..) at f-point with a strain .s', both belonging to B...
