Thermodynamics and geonnetry of two-dimensional anisotropic interfaces are dis-cussed, which serves as a foundation for detailed quantitative studies of the 'shapetransitions' (e.g. faceting transition, facet edge problem, etc.) in the equilibriumcrystal shape (ECS). A fluctuation theory based on the Andreev's formalism for theECS is utilized to derive a generalized relationship between the interface stiffness ten-sor and the curvature tensor of a surface describing the ECS. As an application, newMonte-Carlo method to calculate the curvature of the ECS is proposed.
