Similarity solutions of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation arc studied bymeans of finite transformation. It is shown that the similarity reductions to theequation of fewer independent variables are special cases of finite invarianttransformation. The resonant interactions of similar-type solitons moving innon-steady and non-uniform background are studied.
