A new absorption band has been found in Rbl containing thalljum of highconcentration. The dependence of the luminescence intensity on the thalliumconcentration reveals that the new band is due to absorption by dimer (Tl').centers. The analysis of the polarization of luminescence leads to th<c conclusionthat the Tl"-Tl" axis of a dimer center orients along a (110) axis oj ' the crystal.
