A theory of temperature fluctuations in equilibrium systems is developed onthe basis of the theory of steady states proposed by the au1.hor. The correlationlength of the temperature fluctuations in one-dirrtensional systems is found to begiven by a square root of a product of the thermal diffusivity of the system andthe relaxation time defined for heat transfer from the system to heat bath. Thenoise power spectrum originated from the temperature fluctuations modulatingthe resistance is found to depend not only on the temperature coefficient of theresistivity, but on the relaxation time and the thermal diffusivity.
