Algebraic Soliton of the Modified Korteweg-de Vries Equation

By means of a Backlund transformation, it is shown that an algebraic solitary wave governed by the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation with negative dispersion is a soliton. It is found that solitons of already known type pass through the algebraic soliton to emerge without not only deformation but also phase shift while the algebraic soliton suffers a backward phase shift. It is noticed that this new type of soliton corresponds to a singular eigenvalue in view of the inverse scattering method.
