TiH_2 and TiD_2 thick targets were bombarded with 100 to 200keV protons. Evidence for nuclear reactions was obtained by means of a surface barrier particle detector. Proton irradiation of TiD_2 produced the following observations: α particle emission identified as (p,α) reactions from ^<11>B and ^7Li impurities in the target at ppm concentrations; and 〜3 MeV proton and 〜1 MeV triton emission from secondary D-D reactions caused by elastic scattering of the primary proton with a target deuteron. A 3.9MeV a particle peak measured by others was not observed.
