We reinvestigated successive magnetic phase transitions (T?j x 14.0 K, Ty) x 10.5 K) in a frtms-trated triangular lattice antiferromagnet (TLA) CuFeOz by neutron diffraction uneasurezaaentsttsing single crystals. The magnetic strtrcture of the interrtaediate-temperattrre phase between TNTand Tyz is fotznd to be a quasi-long range ordered sinusoidally aunplitude-modulated strtmcttmrewith a ternperature dependent propagation wave vector (q q 0). These f'eattrres of successivephase transitions are well explained by reinvestigated lN4onte-Carlo siraatrlation of a 2D IsingTLA with conapeting exchange interactions trp to 3rd neighbors, in spite of the Heisenberg spincharacter of' orbital singlet Fe" rnagnetic ions.
