AIIOIIIIIOLIS strtrcttrres were recently found at tlae Iiqtrid-vapor' interfaces ira ra-alkanes, nalcohols, etc. In this paper, detailed strrface structture of tlue liquid ua-alkauae is iravestigated bymolecular dyzuatnics suutatrlattion. Tlae coraaptttation is considerably accelerated by trse of a sitanjcli-fled naolectrlar nnodel, in xvhich detailed taaolectrlar strttcttmres of hydrocarbons are neglected; thesysternatuc unvestigation of' the uaaelting ar?d freezing of relatively large systenaa is there by en;rbled.Arotrnd tlae bulk taaelting jcoint, an appreciable ordered zaaonolayer is observed at the liqtrid-vaporinterface. The rnomolayer is characterized by tlae preferred bond orientation perpendicularr tothe strrface normal and Clue acctrumuI?ttion of' the claain ends at tlae sturface.
