A new proton-conducting pol)'mer electrolyte polyethylene oxide (PEG)T(NO.).SO. ltas been reported. The proton trattsport in solution-cast filmns of PEGcomplexed with (NH.).50. has beeut established using optical mieroscopy, XRD,DTA, IR, coulometry, transient ionic current and electrical conductivity studies. Theltighest electrical conductivity ltas been l'ound to be 9.3 X 10 ' S?cm ' for theNU." /EO ratio equal to 0.0416. Tlte transference number and mobility of protonicmovement have been found to be /,. , : 0.61 and 7a,.. , : 2.9 X 10 ' cm'/ volt-sec, respeclively. The movement of anions (possibly HS0j ) also cc>ntribute to the overall conductivity.
