The fluctuations of the .v-wave neutron reduced widths for many nuclei have beenanalyzed with emphasis on recent measurements by a statistical procedure which isbased on the method of maximum likelihood. It is SIIOWII that the .v-wave neutronreduced widths of nuclei follow single channel Porter Thomas distribution (x'distribution with degree of freedom v = l ) for most of tlte cases. However there are ap-parent deviations from v= 1 and possible explanation and significance of this devia-lion is given.
