It is shown that the acceleration by tlte net inverse bremsstrahlung of laser light is aclassical phenomenon in which high-energy electrons, whose momentum and energyare modulated by the laser light, strictly obey the naomentum and energy conservationlaws and the time-reversal invariance of the transitiorx probability. Net inversebremsstrahlung acceleration of high-energy electrons traveling in strong laser lightand plasma waves is investigated using the relativistic quantum kinetics based on theDirac equation. The quantum kinetics treats the classical phenomenon exhibited byhigh-energ)z electrons through the correspondence principle. The dc force in the laserlight direction by the net inverse brernsstrahlung is independent of tlte spread of theelectron beam energy, and increases vxith the electron beam energy. Tl'te dc force alsoincreases with the laser intensity if the potential amplitude of the laser wave is smallerthan the electron rest energy.
