A formulation of optical response has been made of an exciton polariton in a stabcontaining a planer defect. The influence of the defect is described as a potential, ofthe form of a planer J-function, acting on the translational motion of the exciton. Interms of the microscopic solution of this electronic system, its nonlocal linearresponse has been calculated from the "first principles", which derives an explicit setof additional boundary conditions (ABC). The field in the medium is a superpositionof bulk polariton modes scattered multiply by surfaces and by the planer defect whichplays the role of a wall for the exciton. The numerical calculation of reflectance spec-Era for various parameters of the model reproduces many of the characteristucfeatures observed in "bad" samples.
