Excited states in "'Ra were studied for the first time by the in-beam spectro-scopic techniques. Reactions used were "'Pb("C, 3n)"'Ra and "'Pb("C,4n)"'Ra at 70 and 80 MeV, respectively. The y-rays in "'Ra were identifiedbased on the y-ray excitation functions and the ay-coincidence experiment. Thelevel structure established in this study consists of three streched [2 cascades.Those states are interpreted to arise from the coupling of a valence neutron to thequadrupole- and octupole-phonon. An isomeric state with a half-life of 4.1 :0.3 nswas found at 2388 keV with a spin-parity (31/2 ).NUCLEAR REACTIONS "'Pb("C,3n), ("C,4n), E=65-95 MeV;E measured E, I, 7y-coin, y(t), I,(0), ay-coin.
