A steady two-dimensional MHD flow of an incompressible, inviscid, electricallyconducting fluid past an elliptic cylinder (of small eccentricity) is considered forthe aligned field case when the magnetic diffusivity (71/.) is large. Attempt is madeto find the interaction of the field and the motion, and also the drag force ex-perienced by the cylinder by retaining the non-linear terms. It is found, to afirst approximation, that the drag force is independent of the fluid density ; the dragforce for a circular cylinder is also deduced.
