Plane slow motion of an incompressible, electrically conducting and viscousfluid past a circular cylinder placed midway between the two parallel walls in achannel in the presence of a uniform magnetic field parallel to the walls is con-sidered ; the consideration is restricted to the case when the magnetic diffusivity islarge (i.e., when electrical conductivity is small) and investigation is carried outby considering outer and inner solutions on the basis of Stokes approximation.The drag force on the cylinder is also derived. It is found that the walls havesignificant effect on the drag force.
