The Coulomb-eikonal approximation is applied to evaluate the electron ox-change amplitude in the ionization of hydrogen-like ions by an electron impact. This amplitude is reduced to a three-dimensional integral expression suitable fornumerical calculations. The cross section including the contribution of theelectron exchange is calculated for the ionization of He", whose results show areasonable agreement with experimental results. The exchange effect is found tobe important in the ionization process in the intermediate as well as in the lowenergy region.
