The wavelength derivative spectra of the direct exciton edge were observed inthe temperature range from 80 to 300 K. 'the structures due to direct excitonswere clearly observed and the accurate dependence of exciton energies on tem-perature was obtained. Line sha.pe analysis was alsc>made by using the Wannierexciton function as well as the model exci[on dielectric function introduced firstby llopfielcl and Thomas. It was showtn that the exciton dead layer plays animportant role in optical reflect?tnce of the direct edge.
