Polarized Neutron Diffraction Study of the Spin Structure of Mn_3Sn

The magnetic structure of a weak ferromagnetic Mn.Sn has been studied bypolarized neutron diffraction at room temperature. Large flipping ratios were observedfor the 100 and 110 reflections under application of a magnetic field in the c-planeperpendicular to the scattering vector. The spin structure deduced from the hOl and hhlreflections has a triangular configuration but the spin plane is not determined. Forapplied field parallel to [0104 the spin-A is parallel to [0104, but for applied field parallelto [T10] the spin-B is antiparallel to [T10]. The magnetic form factor of the Mn atomagrees with the calculated Mn" form factor and the ma.gnetic moment is 1.78 7z?/Mn.
