Evidence for Dynamical Charge Compemsation in Tl^<1+> Doped KH_1PO_4 Obtained by ESR

The ESR spectrum of the Tl" center in KH.P0. was studied in the paraelectric andferroelectric phases. The data in the paraelectric phase and in the upper region of theferroelectric phase show that the center has the symmetry of the K" site and reflect withfidelity the lowering of symmetry at the ferroelectric phase transition. At lowertemperatures there is an additional decrease in symmetry which is explained in terms ofa dynamical charge compensation involving the protons.
