A general expression for the Griuneisen function has been developed for toniccrystals employing the ion-ton interaction theory. The developed expression hasbeen utilized to evaluate the values in the frame work of Born-Mayer potentialenergy function. It has been found that the calculated values of 7 are in satisfactoryagreement with the experimental values and are better in comparision to theother theoretical values.
