• The steady flow arotmd a'circular cylinder is ntumerically investigated. Thesolutions are obtained at Reynolds numbers of 40, 100, 200, 400, 500, 700 and1000 by an implicit finite-difference approximation. The similarity of the shape ofstanding vortices is confirmed at Reynolds 'numbers from 20 to 100, and thesimilarity of the velocity distribution along the flow axis in the standing vorticesis confirmed at Reynolds numbers from 15 to 100.
