• Absorption and photoluminescence (P.L.) spectra of Cr-doped CdIn.S. havebeen measured in visible and near infrared region. The oscillator strengths ofthe Cr absorption bands were found to be almost constant for all the sampleshaving different Cr concentration. The ligand field parameters were estimatedas Dq=I490cm ', B=3l0cm ' and C=3500cm-". It is observed that finestructures of the P.L. band include several lines cc>ncerned with nearest neighborpair.
