A Gaussian spectral weight function is derived by solving in a certain approxi-mation the Dyson equation for band electrons interacting with impurities in amagnetic field. The condition for validity is clarified by examining the approxima-tion. In the presence of the interaction with optical phonons as well as impurities, the transverse electric conductivity is calculated in an approximation consistentwith the Green function. The effect of impurities ort the transverse magnetophononoscillation is small under the conditions considered here, contrary to the previousprediction by Barker. A possi[>le reason of the discrepancy is discussed.
