Explanations of the physical properties of solid solutions Fe,Co.-.S. aregiven by the use of models taking account of the observatio?m that Fe is a highlyrepulsive impurity atom for 3d e. electrons on Cc>atoms. True Fe concentrationdependence of the saturation magnetization and of the electronic-specific-heatcoefficient are explained by a calculation using the CPA combined with Hartree-Fock approximation. A simple argument making use of the Friedel sum rule isgiven to discuss the change in the electrical resistivity by Fe impurities in CoS..A density-of-states curve for the e. band of CojS. is proposed to account forthese properties.
