The lattice parameter of Ni0 from 105 K to 813 K has been nneasured using the X-ray diffraction technique. An orthogonal polynomial of second-order with least squareerror approximation is fitted to the lattice parameter versus tempccrature d'ata to obtainthe thermal expansion coefficient, (X. The high temper?tture values of a have been foundto be in close agreement with the measurements of earlierworkers,usung an automaticrecording dialatometer. Experimental investigations laave also been made of the iuafrared transmissionspectrum of Ni0 in the region of fundamental lattice absorptiott between 293 K and500 K, using a Beckman IR-12 spectrophotometer. 'Fhe shift in the long-wavelengthoptical mode frequency with temperature is discussed in terms of volume and otheranharmonic effects employing the present values of at and is founcl to agree qualitativelywith the theory of Maradudin and Feun.
