Quantum effects have been observed in the cyclotron resonance of holes in GaSb and Ge by using a far-infrared H_2O laser (λ=119 μm) in pulsed high magnetic fields up to 330kG. An analysis of the experimental results in GaSb was made on the basis of the method of Pidgeon and Brown, and on referring to the assignment of the peaks in Ge made by Hensel and Suzuki. The experimentally determined Luttinger parameters of GaSb are: γ_1=12.4, γ_2=3.9, γ_3=5.4, κ=3.2. In Ge, the magnetic field dependent mass shift was observed at 119 μm.
