Optical Absorptions in a Half-Filled Narrow Band

The optical absorptions in the system with a single half-filled narrow band are studied in the metal-insulator transition region. It is shown that the system shows a strong absorption near the frequency I/ℏ for both the metallic and insulating states, where I is the intra-atomic Coulomb repulsion.
