A mass scaling rule for the electron (of mass rn) swarm in rare gases (of atomicmass M) under the influence of the electric (E ) and magnetic (#) fields is deduced onthe basis of the two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation. By carrying outthe Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) of the electron swarm in He (77=0), the scalingrule is verified to be valid for the mass ratio m/M'5 10 '. Tlte mass scaling rule in-dicates that the MCS with an unrealistically large value of m/M(< 10 ') for the reduclion of the computation time is valid in the two-term approxirnation with the error ofthe order of m/M after the initial transient stage.
