Absorption of a microwave near the cyclotron resonance by non-interacting electrons in the impurity (and phonon) field is treated by applying the connected-diagram expansion method to Kubo's formula for the dynamic magnetoconductivity. It is found that there exists remarkable similarity between the collision frequency ω_f associated with the static conductivity and the high-frequency cyclotron resonance width Γ. In fact, both ω_f and Γcan be determined in essence from one and the same collision operator g_z, defined in terms of the totality of connected diagrams. The energy shift Δ and the width Γ satisfy a characteristic non-linear integral equation. This equation is solved in the weak coupling limit. For an electron-phonon system, a new expression for the resonance parameters (Γ,Δ) is obtained with the consideration of inelastic cattering by phonons.
