In the presence of the magnetic field the quasi-one dimensional system with the open fermi surface is essentially one dimensional. In the one-dimensional picture the effective interaction is shown to depend on the magnetic field and the two-dimensional momentum. The amplitude of the effective interaction depends on the magnetic field, resulting in the successive transitions to the field-induced spin density wave. The quantum Hall effect is explained by the momentum dependence of the effective interaction. The effect of the alternating potential is also studied.
