A rigorotrs procedtrre of' the lVIonte-Carlo sitnulation for the rnotiota of ions in gases trnder theelectric fields is developed. This procedtrre is applicable f'or tlae ions laaving arbitrary collisionfreqtrencies dependetat on the relative speed referred to tlae gas particles. Test calctrlations areperfornaed in a uaaodel gas corasisting of' rigid sphere particles at tlue tenaperarttrre of 300 K forthree ion-neutral naass ratios. The data in good agreenaent with the corresponding theoreticalvaltres under zero field and with the FTI data at several valtres of' redtrced electric field verif'ythe validity of this procedtrre. Ftrndamaaental pn'operties of the ion uaaotion in thertnal gases arealso discttssed in relation xvith the naass ratios.
