Thermodynamics of Doped Kondo Insulator in One Dimension:Finite-Temperature DMRG Study

The finite-tetnperattnre density-tauatrix renornaalization-group unethod is applied to the one-dimensioraal Kondo lattice model near half-filling to study its thermodynamics. The spin andcharge strsceptibilities and entropy are calculated down to T : 0.03Z. We find two crossovertemperatures near half-filling. The higher crossover temperattrre contintrotrsly connects to thespin gap at half-filling, and the strsceptibilities are suppressed at around this temperattrre. Atlow temperattrres, the susceptibilities increase again with decreasing temperature wlaen dopingis finite. We confirm that the susceptibilities finally approach to the values obtained in theTomonaga-Luttinger (TL) liquid ground state for several paratneters. The crossover temperatureto the TL liquid is a new energy scale deternained from gapless excitations of the TL liquid. Thetransition frorn the metallic phase to the iuasulating pluase is accompanied by the vanishing ofthe lower crossover temperature.
