Optical activities of macromolecules, characteristic lengths of which are larger than or comparable to the wavelength of the incident light, are discussed. Long helical polymers are treated in detail. No special length dependent phenomena are found to be expected. The effectiveness of the small (compared with the wavelength) molecule treatment of Iong helical polymers is thus assured.
