A Search for an E4 Cross-Over Transition in the Isomeric Decay of <204>^Pb

• An E4 cross-over transition from the second excited 4 + state to the ground state in the isomeric decay of <204>^Pb was investigated by using a conventional scintillation spectrometer with an absorber technique. The experimental transition probability of the 1.274-MeV E4 gamma ray was found to be approximately 1.3×10^2 sec^<-1> or less. A hindrance factor for this E4 transition is estimated to be at least about five.
