The variation of acidity of saliva was observed with pH test paper during physical exersises referring to fatigue of the body. Three kinds of test paper, i.e. B.C.P. (pH 5.2-6.8), B.T.B. (pH 6.0-7.6) and P.R.(6.8-8.4) were used for this purpose. Thirty boys of the 2nd grade at Senior High School were chosen. Fourteen of them were non athletes and the other sixteen trained. The effect of physical exercises including calisthenics, mat work and volley ball for fifty minutes upon pH of saliva were as follows: 1) In untrained subjects, the average value of pH (6.78) of saliva was decreasing to the final value of 5.84 from 15 or 50 minutes after the succession of exercise. 2) In trained, the original level of pH (6.80) was kept constant for the first 20 minutes after the end of the exercise and decreased gradually to the final value of pH (6.64) 3) The rate of decrease of pH of saliva was milder in trained than untrained. 4) The similar observations were made in basketball, rowing, and other physical activities
