A method of evaluating the four momentum transfer in high energy jet showers is proposed. This method is based on the two-center modet. The values of the Lorentz invariant square of the four momentum transfer are obtained from eightyone jets with N_h≦3 which contain nearly equal numbers of primary and secondary jets. Their distribution and their relations with the incident energy, multiplicity etc. are studied. Also the energy transfer for each jet is obtained. Attention is paid to some differences between primary and secondary jets. Several theoretical models are examined concerning the four momentum transfer. It is shown that the models where a pion is exchanged between colliding particles can not explain the general features of high energy jets. One needs to take a heavy boson into account instead of a pion. Difficulties appear in the model where the virtual particle is regarded as a Pomeranchuk particle. The 2πNS model in which the four momentum transfer is proportional to the incident energy is also tested.
