We studied quantitatively the influence of ionic and organic contaminants on the voltage holding ratio(VHR) of liquid crystal display panels, which is related to the display image stability of TFT-LCD, by means of forced contamination experiments and calculated simulation. From the simulation, we found that both a 0.3n C/cm^2 ion density generated from NaCl and a contamination of about 0.2% due to N-methyl-2-pyrolidone cause decrease in the VHR from 100 to 95%. Inorganic contaminants cause the VHR to decrease more drastically than organic contaminants.
