概要

The structure and the grinding performance of newly developed grinding wheels are discussed. The new-type wheels have slots/segments and cooling holes in the wheel working surface suitable for creep feed grinding of difficult-to-machine materials such as nickel-base alloys. Udimet 520 and Inconel 713 C could be creep feed ground in one pass up to the downfeed of 10 mm at specific energy of only 150-200 J/mm^3. The energy was also found to remain constant with increasing downfeed. Profiled wheels of the same structure were also developed. Their grinding performance can be estimated by the mean depth of cut along the wheel width.
