Cosmological Constant in Two-Dimensional Gravity

The problem of cosmological constant is discussed in a two-dimensional model for the interaction of spacetime geometry and matter. It is shown that a self-consistent background approximation to the field equations allows a flat spacetime solution without a fine-tuning of bare cosmological constant.
