On the Implementability of the Bogoliubov Transformation in Spatially Homogeneous and Isotropic Universes

For a canonically quantized scalar field in a general spatially homogeneous and isotropic universe we show that the coupling of the field with the background geometry must be conformal in order that the Bogoliubov transformation between two Hamiltonian diagonalizing Fock representations at different times is implementable.
